October 16th 1925 - Treaty of Locarno

October 16th 1925: In Locarno, Switzerland, the most important international conference on European security issues after the First World War comes to an end. Under the participation of German Chancellor Hans Luther and Foreign Minister Gustav Stresemann and the leading statesmen of Britain, France, Belgium, Italy, Poland and Czechoslovakia, a total of seven contracts were negotiated, which were to ensure the renunciation of force and to resolve border issues. The Locarno Conference was an important step towards normalization of relations between the Allies and Germany. For the initiator Gustav Stresemann, here before the League of Nations in Geneva, it meant a return to self-determining politics and readmission into the international community.
