November 25th, 1936 - "Anti-Comintern Pact"

November 25th 1936: Through the so-called "Anti-Comintern Pact" Hitler attempts to find allies for his internationally isolated Third Reich. Originally conceived as a pact of five, between Germany, England, Japan, National China and Italy, he managed first to win Japan for the alliance, which has an anti-Soviet focus. In 1937 it was extended to include Italy, which Mussolini, speaking here on a visit to Berlin, then spoke of as the "Rome-Berlin Axis." Due to the changing circumstances between Moscow and Berlin, the "Anti-Comintern Pact" soon proved to be irrelevant. In August of 1939, Stalin joined the Third Reich in a non-aggression pact, which is remembered in history as the "Hitler-Stalin Pact”.
