January 21st 1924 - Vladimir Ilyich Lenin dies

 

On January 21st 1924 Vladimir Ilyich Lenin dies. Several strokes and the after effects of two assassination attempts had strongly reduced abilities of the Russian statesman. Lenins funeral turns into a day of national mourning in the young Soviet Republic. Tens of thousands turn out to pay the legendary revolutionary leader their last respects. In his writings and speeches Lenin further developed the basic ideas of Marxism. His vision was to create a socialist state and a social order by using a cadre party which would lead the working masses to revolutionary action. In October of 1917 he put his political theories into practice. As the leader of the Bolsheviks he brings down the regime of the Tsar in Russia. He leads the Communist Party firmly does not accept any open debate and any formation of groups. During his lifetime he delivers through his theories as well as his political practices the first basic approaches to the totalitarian Communist one-party state which is not realized until his successors do so by dogmatizing his ideas.
