October 5th, 1937 - USA announces an isolationist policy

 

While in Europe the signs point towards war, the majority of the U.S. population are pacifists and want the U.S. to take on a neutral position in the event of a World War and stay out of a direct involvement in the conflict concerning the fascist Axis powers. Based on this, President Roosevelt announces on October 5th, 1937 an isolationist policy of the United States. Roosevelt: "I hate war" (original sound bite) Only after the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii by the Japanese, the mood shifts within the population and the government: the United States actively enters the 2nd World War.
